FORCE BY DESIGN LAUNCHES TO PROVIDE ELITE SERVICES FOR ON-DEMAND APPLICATIONS

Dedicated to providing Salesforce.com and other “best of breed web-based application expertise

The growing Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) industry has a new player whose offerings are dedicated to on-demand applications. Force by Design, headquartered in San Jose, California, will enable small, medium, and enterprise-sized companies to embrace SaaS, and use it to its full potential. Bryan Coddington, Co-Founder and Principal Consultant, feels there currently exists a gap in the amazing capabilities of SaaS, and the actual implementation of the applications:

“With more and more companies trusting the web to handle their mission critical applications, the SaaS model is perfectly positioned to continue its explosive growth, having a place in every company’s IT strategy, Coddington says. “SaaS is lower cost than traditional applications that require the customer to purchase hardware and software, and they can be up and running in a matter of weeks versus months, or even years.

So can every company that has implemented SaaS sing the praises of its success? Not exactly.

“While the ease of implementation for the most part is a positive, it has also resulted in a lot of customers feeling like there wasn’t enough planning, process, and “best practices applied to their implementation, says Coddington. “What’s been missing is a well defined, process-based methodology for implementing these solutions.

Force by Design will aim to offer many of the benefits of traditional IT planning and project management, but apply them to SaaS-based, on-demand applications such as Salesforce.com.

“What often happens is that a Director of Sales will purchase the application licenses with a credit card, roll it out to a few users and see how it works. They end up loving it, and then other groups want to jump on board so the company just purchases more licenses. What we’re seeing is that without the proper methodology and planning, the customer ends up with a half-baked solution that sort of gets the job done, but they aren’t even coming close to truly realizing the full benefit of the application. This is no different than traditional software-based applications, but with the ease of buying and using SaaS, this happens much more often.

Force by Design will offer custom and pre-packaged services for companies looking to implement SaaS for the first time, as well as packages for companies that need to optimize their existing implementations. They will also offer ongoing maintenance options so that customers benefit from the frequent updates of SaaS applications.

“It’s an on-demand world,â€ says Coddington, “CRM, Service and Support, Marketing, HRIS, Financials – every type of application you can think of is being offered as SaaS. The question to ask is, ‘Are we positioned to get the most from this type of application?’ because no matter how powerful SaaS is, it is only as good as your company’s implementation and use of the product.â€
